Cod Head Ross Lumbard

The following is an interview of Ross Lumbard undertaken by The Fishy.

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Ross:
My dad took me to see them at Northampton on 28/2/98. It was my sisters birthday and she went to the cinema with her friends at the top of the hill

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Ross:
I haven't see too many, so my favourite is Lee Ashcroft

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Ross:
I would like to go back to 1933-34 and watch Grimsby beat Man Utd 7-3

Fishy:
What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?

Ross:
My favourite ground has been Man City because I like the scoreboard, and the ground was full and very noisy
I didn't like Wolves because it was raining and pouring and their fans weren't very friendly

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Ross:
I have only been supporting them since I was four and I am now six. So the best season was two years ago with the two Wembley wins

Fishy:
What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?

Ross:
Last year I was the mascot at the Swindon Game. I met Alan Buckley and cockers and talked with them in the centre circle. Then AB took me into the changing room to meet all the players and they all signed my programme. I had my picture taken with some of the players and one with the captain, Grovesy. I also have pictures with them on the field, and one with the captains and referees just before kick off. The referee gave me a Nationwide League wallet - but it was empty.

Fishy:
Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?

Ross:
I only know Alan Buckley.

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Ross:
We try to get to most of the games in the south and midlands. About 10 or 12. Evening games finish too late for me, and on some Saturday's I may have a birthday party to go to.

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Ross:
Davison, Gallimore, Mcdermott, Lever, Handyside, Groves, Burnett, R Smith, Lester, Allen, Ashcroft

Fishy:
Do your children support the Mariners?

Ross:
They will!

Fishy:
Do you think we should move to a new ground?

Ross:
Yes, because Blundell Park is too small and I can't see when people stand up in front of me
