The following is an interview of Mark Pulford undertaken by The Fishy.

Mark is 27 and lives in Immingham.

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Mark:
I first started supporting the mariners when I was 8 years old and my first game I remember was at home V Brentford on the 2nd February 1980,we won 5-1 (I still have the poster advertising the match which are displayed on the buses)

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Mark:
The best player I have seen wearing a town shirt would probably be Garry Birtles, although there are many other close contenders including Futcher,Ford,Mendonca & Bonetti

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Mark:
If there was one game I could go back in time to watch it would be the FA Cup Semi-Final V Wolves in 1939. Although we lost 5-0 it would be good to be a part of the record attendance at Old Trafford.

Fishy:
What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?

Mark:
My favourite away ground is Wembley !!! , and the worst is Vale Park.

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Mark:
In my opinion GTFC's best season was the 1997-98 season when we went to Wembley twice, and the worst was 1986-87 when we failed to win in our last 10 games and got relegated from the then named Division 2. (Mike Lyons era!!)

Fishy:
What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?

Mark:
The most eventful day I have had in the course of following the mariners was when we played Sheff Weds in the FA Cup at Hillsbrough during the 1996-97 season. Me and some friends were getting a lift from my house in Immingham from a friend of mine from Scunthorpe who is a Sheff Weds fan!!!
As he was driving towards my street he turned in to the road just before where I live and lost control of his car on the icy road and skidded in to the curb, damaging his wheel axle, making the car undriveable.
We then decided to walk the streets looking for a mechanic who could help us out, after over half an hour or more we found someone from around the corner who agreed to see what he could do.
After looking under the car & jacking it up he managed to do a temporary fix with about 1 hour left to kick off. With the wheel alignment still out we decided to risk it and managed to get to Hillsbrough (Harry Haddocks an all) in time for kick off.
After all that I wished we never went seen as we lost 7-1!!! (Harry got deflated along with our enthusiasm after the 3rd goal went in)

Fishy:
Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?

Mark:
The greatest ever GTFC manager would have to be the two spells under Alan Buckley.

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Mark:
I manage to get to most of the home games and usually 2 or 3 away games a season. When I am not at the match I watch Soccer Special on Sky Sports, teletext, radio & commentary on the Internet (Usually all at once, I like to get a few opinions on how bad we are!!!)

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Mark:
My all-time starting eleven since I have been watching town is:

Davison
McDermott Handyside Futcher Croft
Bonetti Cockerill Cunnington Gilbert
Drinkell Mendonca

Fishy:
Do your children support the Mariners?

Mark:
I haven't got any children but I have got 5 cats who are all black & white and one is named Jack, after Super Jacky Lester!!!!
[Rob - oh dear I hope he's still with us!]
