Fostervold Deal Close

Reports appearing in the Norwegian press suggest that Town and Norwegian defender Knut Anders Fostervold are close to agreeing a deal for a permanent move for the 29-year-old left-sided defender to Blundell Park.

The biggest stumbling block looks to be the fee Knut Anders's club Molde would agree to for the player's transfer. According to a story on the Norwegian fotball247.com website, Town boss Lennie Lawrence has confirmed his interest in the player to the Norwegian press. "We first wanted a three month loan deal, but Molde said no. The situation now is to buy or to drop the case." said Lawrence. Molde are looking for 5 million kroner (around £ 375,000) for their left back, with Town's valuation of the Norwegian believed to fall below that figure. Fostervold's agent Stig Lillejord is holding a telephone meeting with Grimsby tonight (Monday), where the two parties will haggle over a fee acceptable to both clubs. Fostervold's personal demands are "in the reach for Grimsby", according to his agent. "The challenge is to find a price that both the clubs can agree on", explains Lillejord, who works for a FIFA-agency in Austria. Town manager Lennie Lawrence sees Fostervold as a valuable addition to the squad. "He's got the right attitude, he is strong and he can play in two, maybe three positions. And he also wants to come to England." Fostervold confirmed his interest in a move to Cleethorpes, as he stated in his interview yesterday on The Fishy. "I want to play for Grimsby" said the Norwegian left back. "I don't think Molde can wait for big amounts for me, until now the most the Mariners have paid for a player is around 5.5 million Norwegian kroner. But of course I hope Molde get some money for me" added Fostervold. The player's agent Stig Lillejord believed that the "price agreed will probably be under the 5M kroner price", but I'm positive that a solution will be found in the end.
