Nielsen Returns Home

David Nielsen's stay in English football didn't last long. He had hoped for a new contract with a team other than Grimsby, where he had been on loan since October, but that never materialised. Nielsen played one bluff card too many, and ended up from whence he came.
The Danish striker returned to Copenhagen on Wednesday, and is due to begin training again with the Danish side on Thursday. "We have worked hard to find a new club here in England, but now it seems like I'm going home and will be staying with FCC until the summer," said David Nielsen, with his tail between his legs.
Nielsen continues to maintain the story that him and his agent Poul-Erik Petersen have been insisting on for the past few days, namely that the Dane has been in daily contact with first division teams Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, but the reality appears to be that none of the three teams in question have ever been seriously interested in him.
Nielsen, who continues the farce of blaming FC Copenhagen for his failure to agree terms with the Mariners has again re-iterated his statement that he will not play for the Danish club again.
"Of course am I disappointed about not finding a new club, but then I just have to return and hope that another club comes into the picture, and that I can go to on a free transfer, when my contract ends this summer," said Nielsen.
FC Copenhagen's Director of Sport Niels-Christian Holmstrøm confirmed that he would be meeting Nielsen when he returned, but would not comment on whether the striker would be punished as Nielsen had earlier predicted in the Danish press.
"FC Copenhagen do not negotiate player's movements through the press. I will speak to David personally in regard to his statement that he never will play for the first team, but that he will not be through the media," said Holmstrøm.
