In the final week of the Norwegian league last season Lennie Lawrence travelled to Bergen, Norway. Lawrence's mission was the Brann - Molde game, and a Molde striker. The Norwegian side played with two strikers on the day André Schei Lindbæk and Bernt Hulsker.

It was believed at the time that it was André Schei Lindbæk that Lennie Lawrence travelled to see. Recently the Norwegian was told that he doesn't fit well into the Molde club, situated in Romsdal on the Norwegian West Coast. But the game Lawrence saw wasn't Molde's best, they lost 4-0 that afternoon. Following the game, Grimsby manager Lennie Lawrence was sufficiently impressed by Molde's left back Knut Anders Fostervold, to the extent that Fostervold would later play for ten matches on loan at Grimsby.

The Oslo boy Lindbæk was tired of the life far away from his friends at home, but he spent the Norwegian winter on trial at several foreign clubs. First Lindbæk travelled to the Italian club Monza, just after the match Lawrence attended at the end of October. After his first trial game for Monza Lindbæk scored and impressed so much that he was very close to a contract, but Molde rejected Monza's bid. In January he tried his luck in Hannover where he scored twice in a match against Celle that Hannover won 8-1.

But Lindbæk couldn't get a contract there either. So when Molde travelled to La Manga, Spain for the Norwegian pre-season in the middle of February, André was in the squad alongside Knut Anders Fostervold. Molde started the tournament well winning 1-0 against the giant Swedish team IFK Gothenburg. And you guessed right André Schei Lindbæk scored Molde's only goal. In a match where Knut Anders Fostervold played for 85 minutes in the left full back position.
