The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

BP to Host International

In our guest column this week Paul Holmes writes that The Fishy can exclusively reveal that a youth international between France and Finland is set to take place at Blundell Park in the month of April.

The game thought to be Under 18's is a coup for the Mariners and for the town in general, it could also be a good scouting opportunity - a point that won't have been missed by Lennie Lawrence, John Cockerill and Co.

Details of the type of game have yet to be revealed, whether it is an exhibition or tournament game. The French are renowned for their excellent youth structure and the Finns are one of the fast developing Footballing Nations.

In other news Grimsby Reserves play Wigan tomorrow at Blundell Park (2pm). Expect the usual mix of trialists and returning first teamers - I will report on this game as soon as I can. The second string then have to overcome Sheffield United reserves in a group cup semi-final on Friday, again at Blundell Park (2pm). With Town having no senior games this weekend we can expect a strong team to be put out.
