Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Watford Striker Options

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/04/2001

LENNIE LAWRENCE looks certain to link Livvo with Jeffrey as the starting front line duo against Watford at Blundell Park on Saturday. Although he has not made a definitive decision, his comments today indicate that is the option the Grimsby boss favours.

With Livvo starting the game Lawrence is looking at the best possible combination to upset the Watford side. "It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that Jeffrey will start on Saturday," said Lawrence, to the Grimsby Telegraph, seeing Cornwall as a great asset from the bench.

"It's taken him a while to get used to it and he looked lively, not just because he scored, but he did well. I've got to decide on whether to start with him or keep him up my sleeve. He needed to come out of it for a bit. You hope that they come on fresh and he came on with Livvo for the first time which helped."

Lawrence is very happy to see Livvo back in the team and "We knew that we could get 45 minutes or an hour out of Livvo and we took a chance. "When the stakes are so high you can't hang around. Now it's a question of who plays with him."

"To be fair Jeffrey was unlucky. He's at his best when he's playing off Livvo. They pulled them all over the place when they played at Bolton."

The fans, naturally would like to see either Cornwall or Jeffrey producing the goals again and repeating last week's great performance where the Mariners came from behind to beat Tranmere 3-1 up front.

Grimsby have six games left in which to avoid relegation, four of which are at home, with the other two both in the West Midlands - against Birmingham and West Brom.

Lever Looking to BP Again

Mark Lever is looking to Bristol City gaining a place in the first division via the playoffs and returning to face the Mariners at Blundell Park.

"It would be nice to play in the first division and the only way I'd like to play against Grimsby Town again is if we get promoted," said Lever "If I get back to play there it would be an emotional day. I'd love to play back there but to do that we'll have to go up - I hope. That's the only way I'd like to play Grimsby again."

The Robins current lie just below the play-offs in seventh spot in the 2nd Division Table.
