Former Grimsby Town loan striker Luke Cornwall returns to Blundell Park on Sunday after returning to Craven Cottage because he could not play in the season's final game against his own club Fulham which was agreed before he came to Grimsby.

Talking to the Grimsby Telegraph Cornwall said "I think they'll be all right. They can get the point because the boys will stick together and I think they can go on and do it "When I was there all the boys dug in and were encouraging each other. Even when we went a goal down they didn't put their heads down. "They've got a good team spirit and they'll be okay.

"You've got to look after your team mates, but I think that Grimsby will get the point they need to be safe.

"Obviously I'd like to play but I knew before I started that I wouldn't be allowed. "It would have been good to play against my team mates."

On his fure Cornwall was more circumspect: "I don't know what it holds at the moment. I'd prefer to keep my options open and see what happens in the summer," "It made me realise that I'm good enough. It gave me a lot of confidence and the more I played the more I thought I can do it in Division One.

"I didn't think when I went to Grimsby that I'd get 10 games and I can't complain. I got a few goals for myself and I thought I did fairly well. "I thought it was all right and there was nothing on the downside about it. The players were very nice and I enjoyed it.

"It took me a couple of games to get going but the manager kept playing me and believed in me. That really encouraged me because it showed that he had faith in me.

"I just thought that I'd come for a bit of experience and that I'd be a back-up striker, and may be on the bench every so often and not play in week-in and week-out."
