A classic example of a player who excelled in the lower divisions yet was not quite up to the higher standards. Striker Daws was signed from Scunthorpe in 1993. At Scunthorpe Daws had formed a formidable partnership with Andy Flounders. At Grimsby he looked like a poor Tony Rees (yes, that bad). Daws quickly became accustomed to life on the bench and left for Lincoln at the end of the same season.
