Paul Crichton1993/94-1996/97148 (0)0 goals

Paul Crichton After been bought by Buckley back in 1993, Crichton was intended to be 2nd choice to Rhys Wilmott. However, with days to go before the start of the season, Wilmot got injured and Crichton stepped in and was to be Town's first choice keeper for the next three seasons. But it was by no means plain sailing all the way!

In just his second game, Crichton performed one of the biggest blunders of this era. Town fans will never forget the second game of the 93/94 season away at Forest when he took an almightily swing at Paul Futcher's back pass, only to miss the ball completely and see it trickle into the empty net.

That goal has appeared on many of Danny Baker's own goals and gaffs videos. But this did not affect Crichton in any way, and he went on to collect the player of the year award that season, following some fine performances.

Then, Mr Laws decided to experiment with his keepers and strangely dropped Crichton, sold him to WBA for £250,000 and replaced him with the 'dodgy' Jason Pearcey. The rest, as they say, was history, and Town went down that season. Crichton still plays in the 1st division after recently signing for Norwich in a £200,000 transfer.
