Lawrence Comments On The West Brom Game

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 19/08/2001

LAWRENCE said: "I felt Danny Coyne came out of his area and he blocked the ball with his body. If he had handled it initially then fair enough but I thought the ball ricocheted at him.

"If he had been sent off for that I think it would have been unbelievably harsh. Maybe he deserved a yellow card but I thought the referee handled the game very sensibly indeed."

"....We certainly had the rub of the green...."

Lawrence said the game game revolved around three incidents - Albion's missed penalty, the Mariners' successful penalty and a free-kick from home defender Neil Clement which hit the crossbar.

"We certainly had the rub of the green," said the Grimsby boss. "It was our day and fortune favoured us."
