Something in the Fish?

AFTER beginning the season so well winning four of their first six league games, Grimsby have plummeted down the league table after losing four of their last five matches. The Mariners' results from their fixtures show some rather intriguing if slightly bizarre statistics.
Since Grimsby won promotion to Division One back in 1998, scoring goals has been a constant problem, averaging just a goal a game over the past three seasons. This season did show some encouragement but with the team scoring 14 goals in 12 games it isn't much of an improvement. But, rather strangely, the team seem to lose the more they score.
This season began requiring Grimsby to play just one league game a week. Since the Mariners started playing during the week, the results have been very poor.
So it seems playing midweek doesn't suit Town - they're still looking to pick up a point during a weekday match. Despite losing five games so far this campaign, the only one Grimsby have lost on a Saturday was at Bradford. Other than that they are undefeated on Saturdays.
Conceding goals is proving to be Grimsby's downfall at the moment. Strangely enough the Mariners are yet to concede just one goal in a game. So the opposition either fail to score, but if they do they score at least two.
This puts pressure on the team to score the first goal, a point Lennie Lawrence repeated time and time again last season. The significance of the first goal in Grimsby's case seems to determine the outcome of a game.
So, if you like to make predictions and are looking to do so for the Liverpool game, here is what could happen:
