ARTICLES have been flooding in by desperate Grimsby fans concerned about their team's slide down the First Division table. Continuing the series "Stopping the Rot" we look at YOUR ideas on what should be done to improve the situation.

I agree that it may be a good idea to employ a sports psychologist to improve that Grimsby Mentality. But I still think we need investment in quality players in key areas, mainly defence and attack, a 'Name' signing could improve attendances too. But its that old chestnut 'money' that's the problem, which is never going to improve while the present board continue to squabble amongst themselves. By the time they face reality we will be playing in the Primark Division One, adrift of all the TV money and playing the likes of Lincoln and Cheltenham, and who knows the, possibility of playing at a Phoenix League ground in a Two Bob Cup competition. The futures Blight the futures Black.

As rumours abound about Lennie's final warning being given by our "ambitious board" his detractors ought to consider that the money being used to pay off his contract could be given to him to strengthen the side. Definite improvement against Arsenal & Man City by the way

Why not give players like Chris Thompson and Simon Ford a chance to shine.People are always commenting on how young our Grimsby side is, and they are right. However people also say that it would be to much of a risk to give players like Simon Ford a chance because they are too young and inexperienced. This makes no sense to me at all.Town don't have a good enough right winger, so why not let Chris Thompson play there where he scored 14 goals for the Liverpool reserves last season? He is a strong lad who is not only able but also willing to put himself about on the pitch, he is also able to run at players and take them on and score hat-tricks in mid-week games. Not that i have anything against Stuart Campbell but he lacks all those features.I also think that Simon Ford would be more than capable, or at least more capable than Paul Groves at making the back 4 more solid.I also have nothing against Groves but he is a mid-fielder and not the answer for our defence. At the end of the day the players that town have apart from obviously the likes of Pouton and Coyne etc....are not performing to a good enough standard and are not getting points like the teams around us are starting to do!! So why not let them have a go, they will certainly be more up for it because they have a point to prove.Let us also pray that Livvo can get fit to boost our muscle deprived side soon!
