Robert Taylor Arrives on Loan

AFTER A FORTNIGHT of trying Paul Groves finally made his first signing for the club today. Robert Taylor signed on the dotted line for a month on loan from Wolves and will be in the squad for the relegation battle at Crewe Alexandra this coming Saturday.
The news will come as a massive boost to players and fans as Grimsby's long-suffering supporters especially have been crying out for a big striker for a long time now.
Its been over 360 minutes since Grimsby hit the back of the net, depressing enough you may think, even more so when you think 180 of those minutes were against a lowly division 3 club. However Taylor may just be the man for the job. His record is extremely impressive as he has scored goals wherever he has gone, but perhaps his record of 31 goals in 58 games for Gillingham is most impressive and fans will be hoping the big man will find that form again for the Mariners and help steer them from relegation.
The current batch of strikers such as Jevons and Thompson have done their best to get the goals but with their obvious lack of strength and presence up front the goals haven't come for them. With Taylor now up front our defenders and midfielders (and even Coyne) have a person to aim at.
Another deciding factor could be the "fear factor". I can't imagine many defenders being happy about all 6 foot 1" and nearly 14 stone of him running towards them or trying to defend against him at corners. Hopefully this will turn out to be the case and he can score the goals for us.
Manager Paul Groves was happy to get his man and told the official website "I'm delighted that we have got our man. We need some height and presence up front. Robert is just the kind of man that has been missing since Steve Livingstone has been unavailable, and his inclusion gives us more options, especially in the air."
The only concern could be the lack of football Taylor has had lately as he has been suffering from injuries and illness but I'm sure he will be out to "resurrect" his career at the Mariners since his big £1.6 million move from Manchester City to Wolves has been a bit of a stop-start affair.
