PAUL GROVES is trying to sign up defender Simon Ford on an extended contract and talks have already begun to keep him at Blundell Park. 20-year-old Ford arrived at Blundell Park last Summer when Lennie Lawrence signed him on a one year contract from Charlton Athletic.
He made his debut as a substitute when Grimsby beat Sheffield United in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw in the Worthington Cup. He later made his full debut as Town fought out a 0-0 draw at Preston before Christmas.
Since then he has been in the team on a full-time basis and manager Paul Groves revealed today that he is keen to tie him to a longer contract. He said. "We've been speaking to Simon to try and work something out and we last spoke to him about this last week."
