Coyne: It was a simple enough afternoon for Wales' Number One. Questions will be asked about his kicking as most appeared to skew very wide. He wasn't forced into making any great saves.

Grade: C

McDermott: The captain seems to get forward more and more with each game and against Wednesday he even had a shot. He and Butterfield work very well together on the attack and in defence too.

Grade: C+

Gallimore: Once or twice his first touch let him down but other than that he played a solid game. His clearances were all good and as the game wore on he made surges down the left but the ball never came to him.

Grade: B-

Groves: The manager looked very reliable (as ever) and controlled the back line. He had a good battle with the Wednesday strikers in the air but he got his head to most crosses in defence.

Grade: B-

Todd: Played a similar game to Groves except Todd seems a lot more casual on the ball. They work as an effective pair and it was Todd who played the ball more directly when coming out of defence.

Grade: B-

Butterfield: He again showed his trickery down the right, especially when attacking the Pontoon and was unlucky to scuff a shot. He gave the Wednesday defence something to think about all game.

Grade: B-

Campbell: He is very slowly improving and looks like taking defenders on these days. He doesn't get to the bye-line as often as Butterfield but offers more width than in the past, especially when Gally helped out.

Grade: C

Coldicott: The midfield terrier didn't look with it all game and perhaps it's time we see a return to action for Burnett. Stace tried a shot in the first half but never really got going in the second.

Grade: C-

Pouton: One or two crunching tackles to begin with, and then he started his search for glory armed with a ball and the outside of his right foot. But Pouton was more direct and brought the ball forward on many occasions and put in some decent crosses from corners.

Grade: C+

Allen: Dropped perhaps too deep at times and couldn't really get forward quickly enough to assist Boulding. He missed two gilt-edged chances that he surely would have tucked away if he was in scoring form.

Grade: C

Boulding: It was obvious from the start that Broomes new exactly what kind of game Boulding plays and he was eliminated for most of the 90 minutes except when up against Maddix. Quiet game for the Blades fan.

Grade: C+

SUBS

The only substitute (Paul Robinson) came on far too late in the game to have an effect, although he nearly scored with his first touch but it would be unfair to grade him. He replaced Campbell on 89 minutes.

Best part of Town's performance: Whatever the defensive problems they had at Birmingham, it looks as though they have been rectified. Todd and Groves looked back to their steady ways, and the full backs got up and down the touchline very efficiently.

Areas for improvement: The midfield appeared to come attached from the attack and it left Allen and Boulding a lot of work to do on their own. It was a typical 'Buckley' performance, with all the passing but no goals.

Entertainment scale: This game had the makings of a 0-0 right from the start when we desperately needed three points and Wednesday would have settled for a draw before the match. Anyhow, the game offered a fair amount of entertainment but it was lacking just one goal from our point of view and the fact that it never came leaves me to give the match 6.7

Grade Guide

A*This is almost impossible to achieve as I will refuse to give anyone this grade - unless they score six goals and get opposing players sent off.
AThis is more possible to achieve, although the player must have had a brilliant game i.e. he can't have put a foot wrong all match.
A-The player must have performed superbly, setting up goals, scoring goals, making match-winning tackles etc.
B+The player played to a very high standard indeed having been influential throughout the 90 minutes.
BThis can be achieved if the player had a very good game overall but could be forgiven for making one or two minor mistakes.
B-The player put in a performance worthy of special mention for his efforts on the pitch or otherwise having a good game.
C+A mark for players who have had an average game but at the same time played well in patches and may have had an impact on the final score.
CAn average performance but not worthy of being dropped for the next game - a competent performance.
C-Start thinking about the player's attitude and commitment on the pitch. Showed little effort and was probably invisible for most of the match.
D+Poor game and realistically shouldn't feature in the next game.
DThis player shouldn't be playing in the near future.
D-The player deserves to be fined for his abysmal performance
EThe player should be sacked
F And then shot
