The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

It Went To Plan!

NORWICH City striker and former Grimsby Town loanee David Nielsen stayed true to his words and did Grimsby a massive favour by contributing a goal in their 2-0 beating of Barnsley at Oakwell this afternoon. The Dane missed a penalty before scoring on the stroke of half time.

By all accounts the former Denmark Under 21 international had a great game and kept the Barnsley defence on their toes. Grimsby were beating Burnley 3-0 by the time Nielsen put Norwich in the lead.

Nielsen himself won the penalty that he failed to convert, but from a corner minutes later Mackay's knock down was stabbed home by the Dane.

With the Mariners doing the Canaries a favour by beating Burnley, Nielsen's Norwich City were doing Grimsby a big favour in return and it was all going to plan.

In the second half another Norwich goal killed off the game and sent Barnsley down. Nielsen's opener set the Canaries on their way and sent the Yorkshire side on their way down to Division Two.

Nielsen promised us a goal - and he got one. In return he would have liked us to beat Burnley - which we did.
