Coyne Misses Out (Again!)

MARINERS' goalkeeper Danny Coyne has failed to get deserved recognition once more, as the First Division team of the season was announced last night at the PFA awards dinner - without Coyne featuring.
The Welsh 'keeper, who recently represented his country for the second half of the friendly against the Czech Republic, failed to make the team of season as voted for by fellow professionals. The goalkeeping position was awarded to West Brom's former Derby 'keeper Russell Hoult.
Hoult is one of three Baggies in the team, matching the 3 Manchester City players, in a side completed by 2 from Wolves, and one eack from Preston, Portsmouth and Crystal Palace. Arguably Hoult has benefitted from the solid back four ahead of him with team mates Darren Moore and Neil Clement also making the line-up, as Albion have let in just 29 goals in the league this season.
In fact, no Town players past or present made any of the teams for the four divisions, although neighbours Scunthorpe saw wingers Peter Beagrie and Lee Hodges both named in the Division 3 eleven. Perhaps both will make it in next season's side too, as the Iron's defeat at Darlington has severely dented their play-off hopes.
Division One XI:
Hoult (WBA) | |||
Alexander (Preston) | Moore (WBA) | Lescott (Wolves) | Clement (WBA) |
Kennedy (Wolves) | Berkovic (Man City) | Bernabia (Man City) | Prosinecki (Portsmouth) |
Freedman (Palace) | Goater (Man City) |
