The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

The Ray Lucas Column: Don't Let Our Big Boys Go!

ONCE again, Grimsby are having to postpone celebrating our great escape, as the vultures are circling over our top stars.

Michael Boulding has been linked with West Ham and now Leicester. If it was not for Boulding, we would be preparing for trips to Blackpool. The search for cover at Villa could mean that Danny Coyne is battling for a place with Peter Enckleman.

Boulding must stay, he has struck up a great understanding with Bradley Allen and whoever else. If we are not careful then Town will be facing another situation like the Broomes fiasco. Boulding gives us plenty of options, so I feel that a permanent deal must be done soon.

Grimsby cannot afford to keep selling stars. If we keep a solid base, who knows what we could achieve. Simon Ford has the potential to become a class defender, possibly succeeding Town boss Paul Groves. We need continuity, and need to keep our best stars. Maybe Town should buy Clinton Morrison or Leon McKensie and possibly Bobby Zamora.

Whatever happens, the summer could be interesting.
