Dr Fishy's Player Of The Year - Week 10

THE new season is not far away, but before it starts there's the little matter of my Player of the Season charts to finish. This week sees entrants four and three - both players now plying their trade in the Premiership.

In fourth place is Aston Villa's newest recruit Michael Boulding. He achieved an average grade of B- during his time at Blundell Park and an average rating of 8.9 out of ten, after receiving 28 marks from myself and totalling 248 points.

His best grade was the A he got against Wimbledon (although he probably got an A on several other occasions). His worst grade was a C- but unlike best grades, I can never remember when players picked up their worst grades.

Boulding's best run was obviously over the 28-game period he was assessed because in that time he never dipped below a C- and his worst run was over just three games, so he was never too far away from getting a B grade.

Overall Quick Mick received four As, 11 Bs and 13 Cs and it is no surprise that he is now playing in the Premiership. He's already scored for Villa in Europe so Graham Taylor has got himself a bargain.

In third place is another loan player to have played at Blundell Park last season. He arrived on loan from Charlton and played a massive part in the Mariners' survival - he is Andy Todd.

He nearly didn't qualify for this Dr Fishy countdown chart, but played just enough games to be included. He averaged a B- mark and after accumulating 82 points from his nine grades, he earned a score of 9.1 out of ten.

Todd received a B- grade 55% of the time, a reasonably high percentage showing his consistency at that level. His best grade was an A- (against Wimbledon, of course) and his worst was a C- (probably at

Birmingham when Town lost 4-0).

Todd's best run came over all nine times he was graded and his worst run was over just two games. In total he received one A, six Bs and two Cs. Again, it's no surprise that he finds himself in the Premiership with Blackburn.

Next week is the final instalment of this Dr Fishy countdown chart, and it will reveal who is Dr Fishy's Player of the Year. Only two players have not been featured so far, but I can reveal that the top two actually achieved the same average grade and same score out of ten as Todd - they were only divided by how many games they played in.
