Wilko's S.O.S

CALLING all Fishy fans! Paul Wilkinson is looking for individuals and companies to help the Club invest in the future by sponsoring one of four named players.
Wilko - one of Town's greatest-ever strikers - has developed a tremendous reputation for spotting talented young players to bring to the club, one such being Simon Ford who has starred in some crucial Town games already despite being just 20.
But with the collapse of ITV Digital, Town's Youth Policy has come under considerable financial pressure, and the Mariners' Coach wants to keep promising youngsters at Blundell Park.
He is aiming to raise £5,000 for each of the four players, which will help with their wages, training and living expenses.
Said Paul, "These lads have done very well so far - two of them appearing for England Schools - so they have a real chance of making a significant contribution to the future of Grimsby Town."
He continued, "All of them are talented, naturally, but they've also shown great dedication too, and that is one vital ingredient if they are going to make it on to the Park in Grimsby Town's colours.
"Fans who would like to help us financially would be investing in the Club's future, and so any amount of money would be a great help. There may be a company out there that would give the full amount for one player, but equally, there may be some people who would welcome the opportunity to make a smaller donation - absolutely any amount no matter how large or small."
The four talented players are Kirk Wheeler and Graham Hockless who have both played for England, and Stephen Downes and Greg Young.
I am sure that all Fishy fans know how important the youngsters are to the future of the club. If you can help it will be greatly appreciated. There is a way you can help. Look out for the Fishy raffle to be announced over the next day or so.
Taking part in this raffle will help us to help the club and you could win some great prizes too. To make it more interesting, I have challenged Dale on the official site to raise more money than we do on the Fishy! Dale has contributed a free subscription to Mariners World as one of the prizes too, so we are off to a good start!!
Keep watching this space for further news.
