Billo's Survival Kit

AFTER Saturday's display against Reading, it is only natural that fans will be angry, frustrated and disappointed. The performance being described as abysmal and dire with calls for players to be sacked, Groves to resign and people welcoming division 2 football.

These are dark days indeed. But those of us who have followed the Mariners over many years will tell you that dark as these days are, we have suffered worse times and overcome them.

This is the nature of football and although it will be difficult to convince people after they have witnessed Saturday's disaster, now is not the time to be thinking of giving up.

The club is facing the worst financial crisis in its history and unless a solution is found, it may not survive and the club could fold. There will be no knight in shining armour coming to our rescue.

We are not talking about survival in the first division here; we are talking about having a club in any division.

So despite the setbacks, the anger, the disappointment and frustration, fans and supporters have to rally behind the club. We have to keep the faith and live up to the "Mariners Til I Die" ethos, no matter how bad things are, because only the supporters can save this club, and if they choose not to, then say goodbye to Grimsby Town.

The need now is for everyone to get behind the club. The club to acknowledge and recognise the fans and supporters as partners in Grimsby Town Football Club and let all work together to solve our present problems because if the club and supporters cannot work together, this club has no future.

We have a simple choice. Support the Mariners now or forget football in Grimsby.
