Pair Face Decisions

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/10/2002

GRIMSBY and striker Steve Kabba's club Crystal Palace have reached an agreement to extend the 21-year-old loan spell at Blundell Park until the end of the season. The decision now rests with the player as to whether he should exercise the option to stay with the Mariners until May.

"We're delighted because we thought he was going to have to go back. But the chairman has sorted it out and he's done well for us," Paul Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"It's just down to Kabbs to agree and I'd ask all the fans at tomorrow's game to make him feel like this is the place to be.

Kabba, who has scored on three occasions for the Mariners during his loan spell, has until next month in which to make his decision.

"We need to keep him and the fans need to show him why he should stay." said Groves, who desperately wants to hang on to the Londoner after his loan expires next month.

"He's starting to show people what he's capable of and he's settled well in the dressing room."

  • Georges Santos has a week left in which to agree an extension to his short-term contract with Grimsby until the end of the season. The former Sheffield United and Tranmere defensive midfielder has impressed in his two starts so far with the Mariners.

"The talks are at an early stage and, of course, I want to stay at Grimsby Town," said the Cape Verde international, who is looking to resurrect his career in English football after a tumultuous time with United at Bramall Lane.
