No New Loan Players!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 03/01/2003

IT was a disappointed Paul Groves who revealed that he had no prospective loan signings to reinforce the squad after Jason Gavin joined John Oster in leaving Blundell Park.

Groves who was trying to negotiate a loan of John Oster until the end of the season was beaten by Sunderland's decision to recall Oster.

Gavin was due to play his last game for Town against Bradford but the rain stopped that with the game being called off.

The Grimsby Telegraph reported that Michael Boulding is not fit enough to join Town so Groves will have to do a quick shuffle of players depending on who recovers from injuries.

"We're disappointed to have lost John and we would have liked to have kept him on a permanent basis. That's what we were aiming to do but we didn't get that chance. We've lost Jason Gavin as well and we're virtually starting all over again.

"But when you rely on loan players, that's what happens. If somebody comes here and scores five goals in 10 games you have to expect it. We need some help in terms of numbers and that's shown throughout the season. We'll have to assess what we've got but there won't be anybody in for the weekend."
