YOUNG defender Greg Young has signed for the Mariners. Young is one of the players who was at the club as a result of the Future of Youth Campaign and his signing was announced today by Mariners Net.
He joined the Mariners in August 2002 after spending the summer on trial from Sheffield Wednesday. He made is debut in first team football at Reading in front of a 20,000 crowd.
He is one of the young players Paul Groves has hung on to despite the departure of some young players in the recent cost cuts because he rates the youngster and said that he will be looking for him to impress. He has progressed since his arrival and the hope is that he will continue that learning curve.
He is a strapping six foot plus centre half, regarded highly by Paul Wilkinson who included him in his Future of Youth Campaign in August 2002.
