Crowe's Double Trouble

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/12/2003

JASON Crowe was today hit by the surprise news that he is suspended for Saturday's game against Wrexham. This is in addition to Crowe's three match suspension in the Peterborough, Wycombe and Plymouth games for picking up a red card last week at Bournemouth.

Crowe will be available for just one game over the festive period: the Boxing Day clash with Oldham at Blundell Park, sandwiched in between the other four fixtures.

Crowe's suspension was today announced by The Football League, who contacted the club to inform them that the former Pompey midfielder had in fact picked up five yellow cards, not four as had previously been thought the case.

Crowe was booked for encroachment in the 2-1 defeat to Port Vale at Blundell Park, a yellow card that was attributed to loan striker Laurens Ten Heuvel at the time.

Crowe's loss is likely to be Des Hamilton's gain as the former Magpie is expected to line up in the centre of midfield alongside fans' favourite Alan Pouton.
