Wages Slash Contributed To Relegation

Last week chairman Peter Furneaux told a fans' forum that four players were earning £17,000-a-week between them. But Paul Groves denies that. The four players were thought to be Stuart Campbell, Alan Pouton, Phil Jevons and Mick Boulding.

Wycombe 4 Grimsby 1

THE poorest performance of the season saw Town capitulate 4-1 this afternoon to basement club Wycombe Wanderers. The defeat was the final blow for many Grimsby supporters, a substantial proportion of whom who were calling for manager Paul Groves' head come the final whistle.

We thought it was all over after the 8-1 thrashing at Hartlepools! But the Mariners made Wycombe look like contenders for the Champions League yesterday going down 4-1 to the bottom of the table club.
