Scunny Want Groves

FORMER Grimsby boss Paul Groves could be offered a short-term contract by neighbours Scunthorpe United after he has successfully negotiated his way out of Blundell Park with the help of PFA negotiators. The negotiations are expected to have been completed within the next day or so.
Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws, another former Grimsby boss, is looking for an experienced central midfield player to help the Iron avoid the drop into the Conference, and is known to be a big admirer of his former charge and teammate.
Scunthorpe are playing Keith Alexander's Lincoln on Saturday, one of the front runner's for the Blundell Park hot seat, so that game could possibly feature two former Town managers, and one future one!
Meanwhile Town have been "inundated" with applications for the post of Grimsby Town manager. Club Chairman Peter Furneaux told Mariners Net: "We've already had a large number of applications. It will depend on who applies, if they've already got jobs and all sorts of things like that.
"I expect Graham Rodger and Neil Woods to be in charge for at least the next two games. We will be looking for a reaction from the players in those games."
