Jamie Lawrence was signed by Walsall on transfer deadline day, March 27th 2003 on a free transfer from Bradford City. Initially contracted until the end of the season, Jamie subsequently extended his deal until 2005 after the Saddlers had ensured their Division One status.

A 33-year-old, Jamie is as famous for his distinctive hair colouring as his wingplay and in nearly six years at Valley Parade, Jamie made 172 appearances scoring 14 goals. His previous clubs were Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers and Sunderland. He is a current member of the Jamaican international squad and played for the Reggae Boyz in this summer's Gold Cup competition. In addition to being a proven right-winger, he is also adept in the tackle and has played at right-back when required.

A late starter in professional football, Jamie signed for Sunderland at the age of 23 from Cowes Sport moving on to Doncaster in March 1994 for a fee of £20,000. In less than a year at Doncaster he made over 30 appearances, being signed by Leicester City in January 1995 for £125,000. Jamie was at Filbert Street for 2.1/2 years moving to Valley Parade in summer 1997 for £50,000.
