Town Fail to Appeal

TOWN have put the ghost of Scunthorpe past behind them after they have decided not to appeal against John Daly's controversial red card received in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against the Iron. The on-loan striker was booked for use of the elbow on Baraclough, a decision that looked harsh on video.
Despite Town boss Russell Slade's view that it was a mistake by the referee, that club have decided not to appeal.
"I'm convinced it is not a red card. He is clearly a good six inches from his face," the Grimsby manager told Mariners Net. "In my opinion it has been dealt with in the wrong way. Perhaps a yellow would have been justified.
"He's overreacted a little bit because he wanted to bring to attention an incident that happened moments earlier. For me it was not a red card, but the club have decided not to pursue it. "
Slade, however, was in no doubt where the true blame lay, in his view: "I don't like to see a fellow professional attempting to get another sent off."
To add insult to injury Town were also fined £1000 for receiving six bookings in the game, in addition to Daly's red card.
