Iffy Onuora2003/0421 (1)3 goals

Iffy Onuora

Top class English Football league target man. Iffy joined Town initially on loan from Sheffield United in 2003 and impressed enough to earn him a permanent deal with The Mariners.

Despite his age and lack of stamina, Iffy gave what he could to Grimsby, but it would all backfire on him. After a few lacklustre performances the fans started heckling Onuora and gave the player a lot of grief, which I really thought was unfair.

Onuora managed to slip in three goals for Town, but after no improvement in the performance level he found himself sliding down the striker pecking order. After Paul Groves was sacked as manager, Onuora was the first player out of the door when Nicky Law stepped in.

The former Gillingham free-scoring wonder found himself shipped out to Tranmere Rovers, where he was not to last long. His next port of call was Huddersfield Town on transfer deadline day, helping them to earn promotion with a vital play off goal against Lincoln City.

Iffy is currently the youth team coach at Swindon Town after his retirement. Iffy started the 04/05 season as a player/coach for Walsall. However, following a staff clearout at the Bescott the former Mariner decided to hang up his boots for good.
