Andy Pettinger was added to the squad towards the end of the 02/03 season, propping up a long 'keeper list which saw Danny Coyne, Steve Croudson, Shaun Allaway, Bradley Hughes and Paul Fraser all contracted to The Mariners.
Pettinger started his career with Scunthorpe before a move to Premiership side Everton, from whom he joined Grimsby. Petts was given his first ever taste of first team football when Aidan Davison picked up a lengthy injury. He impressed in both of his games, including the 6-1 demolition of Barnsley.
Pettinger was dropped when Alan Fettis joined on loan, and then was released at the end of the season.
