Iain Ward

Young talented defender capable of playing left back and in the centre. Was added to Lennie Lawrence's Town squad at the end of the 2000/2001 season.

Always looked promising and full of potential, made 1 appearance in 01/02 and was offered a contract by new boss Paul Groves for the following season.

Ward made 13 appearances for Town the following season and looked keen and sharp, surely he was going to stay on at Grimsby? In a late decision Iain was offered a fresh deal, but was the lowest ranked defender in Town's 03/04 squad. He never really looked like being involved and failed to make an appearance in that season.

He was released at the end of 03/04 and left (at least temporarily) professional football at the age of 22 to go to University and concentrate on his studies.
