Roger Willis 1989/901 (8)0 goals

Midfielder with no special talent, and cause for celebration. Started of as a youth player at Grimsby in the late eighties making his debut for Town in the 1989/1990 season.

Willis made 1 start and featured 8 times coming of the bench and at the end of the season was deemed surplus to requirements and was sold to Barnet for £10,000. In 1992 Watford signed him for £175,000 after impressing manager and pundits alike at Barnet. In 1993 he moved to Birmingham City for £150,000 and a year later Southend United coughed up £100,000 for the Mariners' reject.

After a 1 year spell with Peterborough United, he finally settled down at a club, after signing for Chesterfield for £100,000 in 1997. Willis made just under 100 appearances for The Spireites and played for the club until August 2002 when he briefly moved back to Peterborough until October that year.

Spent 1 month with Kettering Town on a short term deal before spending his last 6 months in football with Stevenage Borough FC.

Shame, if only Willis had stayed we would have had a sturdy player, something Town need desperatly now.

Next Player: Mike Edwards
