Ticket Fiasco - The Solution?

HAVING forecast correctly the over subscription of Newcastle tickets (It wasn't rocket science to do that) and read most if not all of the comments from those unfortunate not to get one, isn't it time we put suggestions to the club in an effort to prevent some of the criticism aimed at the club.

In my previous article, I made a suggestion that would protect all regular supporters and their interests, I maintain, in my view, that is the ideal solution.
For the record, Season ticket holders get priority for their seat only, then you produce 2 or 3 stubs from any league games prior to the draw. You could give both these sets of supporters the same level of priority as they can only purchase one ticket each per person. This will of course avoid queues the size of which we witnessed last Sunday, mainly because our hardcore support of both season ticket holders and regular supporters is around 4500.
Then, for the club to make as much as possible from the 'glory hunter' they can name maybe 2 games for extra stubs, which are then sold on a first come first served basis. Again, this prevents massive queues as there would be a limited number of stubs.
Any left over after that, if there are any, go on general sale.
The above suggestion protects all regular supporters, and more importantly, costs the club NOTHING in any kind of administration fees, neither does it cost the club any time and effort, which also has a value attached to it, particularly when compared to other suggestions of setting up and maintaining loyalty schemes.
A suggestion for the future the club may wish to consider is a part season ticket. Other clubs have introduced this scheme with varying degrees of success. The part season ticket holds around 10 tickets, giving the regular supporter the security they are looking for. It may also produce much needed cash flow for the club during the close season. Grimsby Town Football Club already know this works because they have, in the past, offered something similar around Christmas time.
This site is by the fans, for the fans, and we will consider articles on any subject relating to the Mariners whether it be related to current news, a nostalgic look back in the past, a story about a player, a game or games in the past, something about Blundell Park or football in general.
