Rushden 1-1 GTFC : Post match reaction

By: Jake Olley
Date: 05/03/2006

GRIMSBY boss Russell Slade talks about his side's disappointing 1-1 draw at Nene Park. The Town manager talks about that challenge, that sending off and that linesman as Town's push for promotion was dealt a blow.

On the goal Russell had this to say.

"I would like to see the video of the goal because my players are convinced they had one or possibly two players off-side," stormed Slade.

"The linesman put his flag up and then down again. It's a real kick in the teeth. When I make a mistake I expect to be made accountable for it."

Slade also played down the 'Macca' injury saying he may only be out for a week.

''He's had a couple of stiches. It went straight through the pad onto the shin. I will have a look at the video and then decide. Fortunately it'll only be a week or so before he's back.''

So what did the Mariners' chief think of the Jones' dismisal?

''He just indicated that he didn't think that he played played well. Perhaps he's got a case but there's a time and a place to vent your frustration.''

On the actual performance Slade was actualy upbeat after the draw.

''I thought we actually controlled the game for long periods away from home, in fact in complete control. After the goal they had a good 10 or 15 minutes, but it looked like we may grab one near the end.''

He also he admitted speaking to the officials regarding their performances.

''I just said when I make mistakes I look at them to see if I can improve. I suggested maybe they should look at theirs to see if they had actually made a mistake.''
