Town To Appeal The Gary Jones Red Card!
By: Bill Osborne
Date: 17/05/2006
RUSSELL Slade has stated that he intends to appeal against the red card against Gary Jones in the League Two play-off against Lincoln City last night.
Jones was red carded for allegedly elbowing defender Gareth McAuley who was pressuring him.
"His arms are up but there is no intent to do damage," Slade told Mariners Net. "We're going to look very closely at the best way of appealing against it because to lose your 17-goal striker, our figurehead, with so much at stake is a blow."
It would be a real tragedy for Town if the appeal is dismissed. Jones will be a key component of the team at the finals in Cardiff.
