GRAHAM Rodger has backed his two youngsters to go on to better things with the Mariners, and feels he has more up-and-coming talent in the squad ready to unleash over the course of the season - when the time is right.

Peter Bore scored within 10 seconds of his debut as a substitute in the opening game against Boston and now youngster Andy Taylor has himself got off the mark, also coming off the bench to score the second late goal against Chester on Saturday.

"Andy is developing nicely. He is a real livewire," said Rodger. "People who went to Rochdale might have been a bit surprised and very pleased.

"Andy is always in my thoughts, while Peter has come in and set the world alight.

"I am really pleased for both of them. If they continue to progress they will get opportunities.

With a total of 8 youngsters in the squad this season, Rodger still has six players he has yet to give a chance to this season.

"They are not the only bright young players we have got. But, I don't want to play too many youngsters all the time," warned the Town boss.

  • Tuesday's Pontins Holiday's Reserves' league game against Hull City has been moved to Wednesday night, kick-off 7pm. Entrance is to the Upper Carlsberg Stand only. Admission for evening games is: £2 and £1.
  • Martin McIntosh has returned to Huddersfield Town as his loan spell at Blundell Park is now over. The central defender missed the last two games at Rochdale and Chester through injury.
