Tuesday News Round-Up

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/10/2006

GRIMSBY'S Johnstone's Paint Trophy game with Mansfield has been scheduled for Tuesday 31st October 2006, with a 19:45 KO.

In an attempt to boost ticket sales Mansfield have lowered prices to a tenner for adults, Under 16's accompanied by an adult are free and concessions are a fiver.

Meanwhile under-fire Grimsby manager Graham Rodger is thinking of playing his teenage starlet Peter Bore up front for the tough-looking trip to Peterborough on Saturday. Rodger played Bore up front alongside Gary Jones in last week's cup win at Lincoln, and although the combination didn't produce any goals it was relatively successful compared alongside other recent performances.

"I think Peter Bore is our only option for pace up front at the moment. We had a look at him at Lincoln and made that change late on against Notts County. We did it to try and stretch the game out and try and get us going. It didn't work out on the day for us," said the Town boss, whose side suffered a demoralising defeat to plunge the Mariners into relegation trouble.

"Peter's young and enthusiastic but you can expect him to produce the goods every week on his own," added Rodger.

Rodger desperately needs to string together a few points for the Mariners with his job looking increasingly perilous after just 6 months at the helm.

  • Tickets for Saturday's clash at Peterborough cost just £13 for adult standing, with seats also available for £18. Concessions are £10 and Under-16s £9.
