Question of the Week

Next England manager?

Who's Your Hero?!
Who's Your Hero?!

November Player of the Month

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/11/2006

NOVEMBER 2006 will go down as a historic month for Grimsby Town whatever the future holds. Historians will no doubt be thumbing through reports, footage and statistics from the end of the month that heralded Alan Buckley's third spell, as well as last sad days of Rodger that began it.

Home > 2006-2007 Season > Player of the Month > November

The six players nominated by our readers for the November Player of the Month award, votes from which will count towards the eventual winner at the end of the season, are as follows:

Phil Barnes - Barnes, even under Rodger, was steadily improving, and Town's 'keeper once again had a solid month between the sticks for the Mariners, keeping two clean sheets.

Gary Croft - Almost retired in the summer but has played virtually every game this season for the Mariners and is a reliable full back on either side of the pitch, and is currently keeping Macca out of the side. Will no doubt be pleased to see the same manager at the end of his career as that which started it.

Gary Harkins - Having been injured since August, Harkins came back into the side for Buckley's first three games and looked a useful if unspectacular midfielder.

Gary Jones - Love him or hate him Jonesy knows where the goal is and how to put the ball into the net. Because he's big, stong and slow it's easy to dismiss Jones as a "cart horse", but he's got more to his game than meets the casual eye and with the right partner can be a very effective front player.

Danny North - Like Harkins, North was catapulted from reserve team obscurity into first team duty for Buckley's first three games in charge and gave a good account of himself, although the 19-year-old is yet to score for the first team.

Nick Hegarty - An ever-present since Buckley's return to the club, Hegarty has looked a possible long term answer to the left-side of midfield slot which has been not been Town's strongest area under the last two managers (even though he was right here under their noses).

Pleas vote using Question of the Week.
