Planning Permission Granted For New Stadium

By: GTFC
Date: 25/01/2007

THE Planning Committee of North East Lincolnshire Council today resolved to grant planning permission for a new football stadium for Grimsby Town Football Club at the Great Coates Interchange of the A180.

John Fenty, Chairman of the Football Club, was obviously delighted with the decision and issued the following statement in response:

"This is great news and represents a major step towards securing the long-term future of the Club. I would like to thank NELC's Planning Committee for its support of our application and the Council's officers for their hard work over the last year."

"The application will need to be signed off by the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber but this will hopefully be a quick exercise given the strong planning policy support for the scheme."

"Once planning permission is in play, marketing of the enabling development can begin in earnest. We will begin working up our detailed proposals as soon as we know that tenant demand is in place."

"Once again, can I reassure the residents and Parish Council of Great Coates of our commitment to be a good neighbour and to involve them in the implementation of the match day management and control measures.

"Finally, I would like to offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to the fans who have come to support us tonight and to everyone in the community who has backed us over the last 12 months. We could not have come this far without you."
