Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

August Player of the Month

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/09/2007

THE Mariners were unbeaten in August, although this is mincing with words as they lost in the Carling Cup on penalties to Burnley and never won a single game.

Home > 2007-2008 Season > Player of the Month > August

The six players nominated by our readers for the August Player of the Month award, votes from which will count towards the eventual winner at the end of the season, are as follows:

Phil Barnes - Not Grimsby's most popular player, but has had a couple of good games for Town this season which have won him a few votes and saved Town a point or two during August.

Danny Boshell - Bosh is a tireless runner in midfield, a strong tackler and scores a few goals too.

Peter Bore - Bore's chances have been limited this season and not started a game but when he has come on he's often looked dangerous.

Danny North - Like his fellow youngster Peter Bore, Danny North has been straining at the bit to get in the first team but has not been given many opportunities. When he has been on the pitch North is lively but guilty of missing too many chances this season.

Ryan Bennett - The 17-year-old has come from nowhere this season and started every game out of position at right back. Despite the fact that he's obviously a central defender Bennett has still looked classy at right back and has a big future ahead of him.

Tom Newey - After an indifferent start at Grimsby when he struggled with form an indiscipline, Newey has become a stalwart of the team. A solid defender, and one of Grimsby's main set piece takers.

Pleas vote using Question of the Week.
