Grimsby v Carlisle Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/11/2007

TOWN need to do something to make us all smile and a win against League one leaders Carlisle in the FA Cup Replay at Blundell Park might help.

Home > 2007-2008 Season > Previews > Carlisle (h)

Carlisle haven't done much since we met nine days ago only losing to our future Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-finalists Stockport 3-0 at home. Otherwise not much else has changed: Leeds have moved ever closer to them and Orient with their flats as corner flags are on equal points but with a negative goal difference in the dizzy heights of League One. So it’s back to the magic that is the FA Cup and both teams could do with a valuable win.

Carlisle are set to make some changes from last weeks encounter. Captain Paul Thirwell is out with a calf injury and loan midfielder Joan Anyinsah is also been left out.

Carlisle boss John Ward has a lot less problems then our Alan with pressure mounting and the walls closing in the team selection will consist of who turns up with their boots.

Martin Butler (hamstring), Paul Bolland (thigh), Isiah Rankin (back), Justin Whittle (ankle) and Danny Boshell (suspended) are all very doubtful. Nick Fenton (ankle), Gary Jones (ankle) have minor injuries but should be fit enough to take some part. Ryan Bennett should return after missing Saturday's game after being involved in a car crash.

Town may have to promote one or more of the Youth Team to make up the bench.
