Beat the Bookies: Week 21

ACCRINGTON Stanley's win over Mansfield ensured a winning week last weekend for Beat the Bookies, and the other tips did well too. It's a special Saturday this weekend with the FA Cup Third Round taking place. Can you find yourself a winner?

Town travel to fourth place Chesterfield on Saturday who are in sparkling form, even if it looks like top scorer Jack Lester is not playing. Grimsby have not done well against the top sides, with the exception of the last game against Chester, and we'd be looking for longer odds than the 4/1 on offer with BetDirect for an away win before seriously considering it. 4/6 for a Chesterfield win looks a reasonable odds-on bet in fact.
Elsewhere in League Two Notts County have started to plummet down the league table and this weekend they take on Stockport at Meadow Lane. Notts County have lost 4 out of the last 6 at home, and Stockport have won 4 out of the last 6 away. That makes the 13/8 on offer for a Stockport win worth a punt.
Brentford have improved since we played them, and in truth they looked a decent side lacking confidence that day. Shrewsbury are strong at their new ground, but the Bees are capable of snatching all three points, being a good counter-attacking side.
The most likely upset in the FA Cup in our opinion is Bristol City v Middlesbrough. Boro's form and confidence is low, whereas City are flying in the Championship, currently sitting proudly in third place in the Football League. You can bet on City at 2/1 to win over 90 minutes.
Recommended Bets
- 1. Stockport to beat Notts County (13/8, bet365).
- 2. Bristol City to beat Middlesbrough (2/1, bet365).
