MARINERS manager Alan Buckley paid tribute to Town striker Danny North after the youngster sealed a 1-0 win over Wrexham with his sixth goal of the season.

Post Match Reaction: vs Wrexham

Alan Buckley on Northy

"Northy is a young lad with such a lot to offer. He is just scratching the surface of the game at the moment. His movement onto the ball for his goal was terrific and it was fantastic the way he took it."

Buckley on Win

"I knew it would be difficult. When you look at Brian Little's record he has had success for a lot of clubs and puts together teams that are very difficult to beat. They are trying to grind our results and they made us work hard.

"We were not at our brightest and it may be that the game caught up with us. We looked a bit leggy, not everyone, but four or five of the lads who are usually bright and lively. But we dug in.

"We missed three really good chances in the first half. But having said that, Phil Barnes made a fantastic save from Paul Hall. His form this season has been exceptional. We didn't get the early goal so we had to hang in there. But it's a clean sheet and we haven't been keeping too many of them this season."

Dragons boss Brian Little on defeat

"It's so disappointing that we still haven't come away with something, although it was a much better performance. We have introduced a number of new lads and there was a good spirit in the dressing room.

"We knew they'd try something different in the second half, and at time to time they got the better of us. But the display in the first half was more than competent. The early shot from Paul [Hall] looked like it was going in and how the keeper managed to keep it out I don't quite know.

"That would have made a difference for us, we needed one of them to go in. The first half I was very pleased and we have said in the dressing room that there is something to build on, but still the points are the most important thing and we haven't got any again.

"We are working hard and we are trying hard, and if we look at the last four games then we have been going close. It's not easy for our fans to swallow or me to take, but we will work again on things this week like team formation and we will try to improve."
