DARREN Wrack could be a target of Alan Buckley according to press reports from the Midlands. The Cleethorpes-born midfielder spent two years at Grimsby in the 90s and has now been released by League One side Walsall at the age of 32.
Right-sided Wrack was signed by Brian Laws and spent two years at Blundell League Two, but with little success. His second year at Grimsby coincided with Alan Buckley's return to the club, but he only had limited opportunities due to injury. He was eventually allowed to leave and joined Walsall where he has remained for nearly a decade and enjoyed considerable success.
Against a return for Wrack is the fact that the right side of midfield is not high on Grimsby's list of weak areas, with Peter Till and Peter Bore at the club - unless Alan Buckley has other plans.
Another Walsall target said to interest Town boss Alan Buckley is 31-year-old defender Ian Roper. The centre back has also been released by the Saddlers where he has spent 13 years. Roper's 298 league starts could provide the experience Town need in their back four, with Town only currently having two young centre on their books.
