Two More In Talks

TOWN are closing in on two more defenders as the quiet mid-season suddenly springs to life. Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph, Town assistant manager Stuart Watkiss confirmed that the Mariners have spoken to a further two defenders.
"We had a centre-half here for talks on Monday and the talks went well," Watkiss explained. "He has gone home to talk with his girlfriend so we are just waiting to hear on his decision.
"There has also been progress on another possible deal. The deal at our end has been agreed but there are things to sort out on his side.
"We are hopeful. The lad wants to come so, again, we just have to wait and see."
It is refreshing to see that Watkiss is keeping us up to date regarding transfers and assured fans that the management team have been working to bring players to the club during the previous month.
However, he insisted that it hasn't been for the lack of trying.
"We know that this is the first signing of the summer" he added. "But it is wrong for people to think there is not a lot going on behind the scenes.
"We are working hard to make sure the team is competitive next season and I am confident it will be," assured the former Mansfield boss.
