18-year-old Midfielder Grant Normington has signed a new two-year contract with Grimsby as his current deal was due to expire at the end of the year. Normington made his debut from the bench against Exeter and has done enough to persuade new boss Mike Newell to keep him on.
Normington told the Grimsby Telegraph: "It was a shock to get offered the deal but obviously the gaffer has seen something he likes in training."
The Hull-born youngster, who was offered his first professional contract by former manager Alan Buckley, has been impressed by new boss Mike Newell.
"I couldn't be happier because he is great to play under," said Normington. "I have made my debut since he arrived and now I am keen for more.
"A two-year contract gives me the time to improve and show I can be a part of his plans."
