STRIKER Adam Proudlock faces a month out after breaking down with an ankle injury during Saturday's defeat to Burton Albion. The former Darlington striker was stretchered off in the second half, and presents yet another disruptions to Newell's plans.

The Town boss has been unable to play a settled side once this season, and was forced to make changes both before and during the Burton game, with Rob Atkinson also picking up a groin strain last week and Danny Boshell's two match suspension.

With the combination of poor results and the unavailability of players Newell has therefore decided to strengthen his squad and there will be more than one new arrival this week according to the Town boss.

"There are a couple of players I definitely want this week. One player we have made an agreement on but hopefully there will be two or three," Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"To get this club up and out of this division you need better players. If we could go and get better players than we have got all over the team then we would do, but that's not always possible.

"There is a budget at the club .. you can't go mental, but investing has to happen if you want success."

Newell is hoping to offset some of the cost of new players by sending out a few of Town's own players on loan. Danny North and Peter Bore have already been earmarked for spells away from Blundell Park.

Grim Rob Says I believe the secret of success at this level is to get a settled side, especially in defence and midfield. Once we manage to do that results can only improve.
