The Forgotten Faces of Blundell Park - Part 2

IT'S easy to forget some of the faces you see in the famous black and white shirt from time to time. You could be walking around Town, in a pub somewhere and then you see a familiar face that you can't quite put a name too.

Here's the second part of my series looking at former Town players and where they are now.

Daws, Nick - Retired in 2005 whilst with Rotherham, and was part of the Rotherham coaching staff up until recently, when he followed manager Mark Robins to Barnsley.

Donovan, Kevin - Retired in 2007 whilst playing for Alfreton Town, also played for York City in his latter years.

Downes, Stephen - Following a season with Grimsby in 02/03, he was turned out for York City and Farsley Celtic. He currently plays for Bradford Park Avenue.

Downey, Glen - Joined Worksop Town in 2007 briefly, then retired from football. In January 2009 he was cleared of charges accusing him of running a brothel in Sunderland.

Fickling, Ashley - Retired in 2002 whilst with Scarborough. Is now first team physio at Sheffield Wednesday.

Fleming, Terry - After a dismal season with Grimsby in 04/05 he went on to feature for Kidderminster Harriers, Moor Green and Grantham Town before joining Lincoln United midway through last season.

Ford, Simon - Briefly played for Redbridge in 2004, but soon moved to play for Kilmarnock a few months later and that's where he remains.

Forrester, Jamie - Now with Lincoln United after dropping out of the professional game last season with Notts County.

Fostervold, Knut Anders - Now competes in cycling, after retiring through injury.

Fraser, Paul - Turned out for Ossett Town after his release from Blundell Park.

Gallimore, Tony - Played for Barnsley, Rochdale, Northwich Victoria and Hucknall Town (loan) before his retirement in 2007. He now works for a scaffolding firm.

Gavin, Jason - Former loanee now currently playing for St Patricks Athletic.

Gordon, Dean - Dean has got around since leaving Grimsby and only retired at the end of last season. Since leaving The Mariners in 2005, he has turned out for APOEL Nicosia, Crook Town, Blackpool, Worksop Town, Albany United, Auckland City, New Zealand Knights, Lewes, Torquay United, Whitby Town, Ilkeston Town, Glapwell and finally Workington.

Grand, Simon - Moved to Morecambe after being released by Town in 2007, and now plays for Northwich Victoria.

Handyside, Peter - Retired in 2007 whilst playing for Hucknall Town, he also featured for Northwich Victoria in his latter years.

Harkins, Gary - Joined Partick Thistle after leaving Blundell Park in 2007, and is now with Dundee.

ten Heuvel, Laurens - Currently with HFC Haarlem in the Netherlands.

Higgins, Ben - Also did a lap of the non league circuit, including teams like Eastwood Town.

Hildred, Ashley - Moved on to Hereford United, had a trial at Scarborough and then disappeared into the non league game.

Hockless, Graham - After leaving Grimsby in 2005, Hocko briefly played with North Ferriby United, before moving to Australia, where he first played for Richmond, and currently plays for Heidelberg United.

Hyldgaard, Morten - Currently with AGF Arhus.

James, Kevin - Former Forest loanee, went on to play for Welling United, Woking and Crawley Town. He currently plays for Chelmsford City.

Jeffrey, Michael - Rumours has it now sells cars on the Merseyside. Retired after being released by Grimsby in 2002.

Jones, Gary - Assistant manager at Colwyn Bay, where he has been since retiring in 2008.

Kamara, Malvin - Former loanee from last term is now with Barrow, following his release from Huddersfield Town.

Lamb, Alan - Former YT pro who never made the grade. He currently plays for Brigg Town.

Lawrence, Jamie - Released in 2004, and played for Brentford, Worthing and Harrow Borough afterwards. Currently plays for Margate.

Lawson, James - Former loanee from Southend, Currently plays for Welling United.

Lever, Mark - Retired in 2005 playing for Ilkeston Town, also turned out for Ossett Albion whilst in his final season.

Love, Andrew - Never actually knew what happened to Andy Love, all I know is he played a few seasons for Ilkeston Town following his release....after then...who knows?

Mansaram, Darren - Currently plays for Dundalk in the Irish League, he has played for Halifax Town, York City, Tamworth, Worksop Town, Leigh Genesis, Sligo Rovers, Bohemians, and Retford United since leaving Grimsby.

Marcelle, Clint - Played for Tamworth, Gainsborough Trinity and Armthorpe Welfare before retiring in 2006. He is currently the manager of North East Stars in Trinidad.

Mulligan, David - Now plays for Wellington Phoenix of New Zealand...in the Australian A League.

Murray, Neil - Retired with Ayr United in 2003, was a co-commentator on the Bundesliga coverage on Setanta Sports, but now works alongside Kevin Drinkell for a sports management company.

Murray, Rob - Went on to play for King's Lynn and Boston United. He now keeps net for Hucknall Town.
